Privacy Policy — Recipe Finder

Thank you for using Recipe Finder (“we”, “our”, or “us”). Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Recipe Finder mobile application may collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using the app you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

Recipe Finder is designed to be privacy-friendly. We do not require sign-in or ask you to provide personal information (such as name, email, phone number) in order to use the core features of the app.

• No personal account data: We do not collect or store user-identifying personal data as part of normal app use.
• Local data: Recipes you save to Favorites are stored locally on your device (using SharedPreferences or local storage). These items are not transmitted to any server by default.
• Optional diagnostics / analytics (if enabled): The app may collect minimal, aggregated, non-identifying usage information such as app opens, errors/crashes, or basic feature usage to help us improve the app. Such information is used only in aggregate and is not tied to a specific person.

2. Third-party services and APIs

Recipe Finder uses third-party services to provide core functionality:

• TheMealDB API: Recipe data (titles, images, ingredients, instructions) is fetched from TheMealDB (a free public API). When you search for recipes, those requests go directly to TheMealDB servers; Recipe Finder does not add personal identifiers to those requests.
• Optional libraries: Third-party libraries (for images, UI, analytics or crash reporting) may be included in the app build. These libraries have their own privacy practices; consult the library provider’s policy if you enable them.

3. How we use information

• Provide and maintain app features (search, recipe details, favorites).
• Store favorites locally so you can access them offline.
• Optionally analyze aggregated usage and crash reports to improve stability and usability.

4. Data storage & retention

Favorites and any settings are stored locally on your device. The app does not upload favorites or local settings to our servers. If you uninstall the app, local data is removed from the device. Cached API responses or images may persist on the device until cleared by the system or the app.

5. Children

Recipe Finder is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data within the app, please contact us and we will promptly delete that information.

6. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect local data stored by the app. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of device-stored data.

7. Choices and control

• Remove favorites: You can remove saved recipes from Favorites at any time inside the app.
• Uninstall: Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data from the device.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance of the new terms.
